Tuition at Black Tie Music Academy is a flat fee and the same across all instructors and locations. Spring lessons begin 1/5/15. An annual fee of $30 is charged to patrons each September to cover office supplies such as toner and paper for the year. Please understand that by patronizing BTMA, you agree to adhere to our *NEW* cancellation policy.

private  lessons  -  start  anytime!

WE  CAN  TEACH  YOU  ANYTHING! Between 17 instructors and decades of teaching and performance experience, there isn't an instrument or genre we can't teach you how to play. Most people ask for one of the "big four:" piano, guitar, drums, or voice. Generally, most piano, drum, and vocal students begin at 5, guitar at 6, and band instruments in 4th grade. That might be a good place to start if you're unsure about what interests you. Please use our contact form to find out more or to find an instructor that works for you!

We recommend beginners take 30 minute private lessons once a week. Those are $110 a month. Want more instruction? See below:

45 min a week - $160 a month
1 hour a week - $210 a month
1:30 a week - $310 a month
2 hours a week - $410 a month

*Prices are per student.   If you have 2 students each taking 30 minute lessons, the total is $220 ($110+$110).  Also, there is an additional $10 a month charge if our instructors come to your home*

small  group  classes  -  starting  1/5/15

Groups of 30 like some other schools? Nah, not here. At BTMA, we cap each small group at 12 to ensure your child gets the most out of their musical afternoon. Classes  are a flat rate of $110 per month (with a $30 paper/toner fee charged every September). We offer all kinds of ways to expose your children to the joys of music. This is where education meets entertainment. To find out more about a class or to sign up, please fill out our contact form. Class descriptions are below.
Spring 2015 Group Class Schedule

TUESDAY
2:00 - 3:00pm - Instrument Petting Zoo w/ Mr. Eric

3:30 - 4:30pm -  All Things Rhythm w/ Mr. Eric
4:30 - 5:30pm - Beg. - Intermediate Piano w/ Mr. Eric

Instrument Petting Zoo: This weekly, one-hour class will cover ALL instruments over the course of a semester. Really. We'll cover everything from flute to piano, drums to guitar, mandolin to trumpet. Everything! By the time the new year comes around, your child will be exposed to over 20 instruments and have the experience of trying them all! Special attention will be paid to the "big four:" piano, guitar, drums, and voice. This is more of an exposure class meant to introduce the instrument families and basic musical theory and notation. No experience is required.  Students must be at least 4 years old.

All Things Rhythm: Everyone loves the drums! This class will discover not only drums, but also several other world percussion instruments and develop a steady sense of rhythm within your child. Games and group activities will enhance your child's musical experience. No experience is required and students must be at least 5 years old.

Beginning - Intermediate Piano (Ages 5-6 & 7-9): In this weekly one-hour class, students will learn the foundations of piano and musical notation. Topics include learning the names of the notes on the piano and staff, musical terms and symbols, and playing simple songs in “C position.”  For those with prior piano experience, we will learn songs in G position and basic root position chords.   Showmanship, stage presence, and mic etiquette are also taught. No experience is required. Students must be at least 5 years old.

First Saturday Open Performance occurs on the first Satruday of each month and showcases BTMA students and other local performers in a relaxed lounge-like atmosphere. Students have the opportunity to practice their performance skills onstage in front of a warm and receptive audience. Free refreshments  are served. Admission is free.
